For more than 11 years, det turkise telt has worked with music and culture at the intersection of people, traditions and new ideas. We believe in the inclusive and forward-thinking place within music and art, and from this point of departure we work towards building and hosting cultural events, placing music of high artistic value in colorful surroundings with a wide popular appeal. We have continuously experienced a genuine interest and warm support from a large audience, and have multiple times received prizes honoring our work (including DMA for ‘Best World Venue’ in 2015, AOA Byens Bedste as ‘Best music venue in Aarhus’ in 2016 and an OOAward, presented by the genre organization Tempi, in 2019). These years we are working ambitiously on taking a big step from being a voluntary-run grassroot organization to becoming a more established cultural institution, aiming to combine a strong local foundation with a national network and an international perspective.
ABOUT THE POSITION
As a part of the daily management in det turkise telt you will become an essential part of one of the country’s most creative and curious young cultural actors. In close collaboration with one other daily management-leader, you will be in charge of the organizations administrative and developmental work. With a central focus on our two festivals (Roots&Hybrid Festival during SPOT and det turkise telt during Aarhus Festuge) and our new concert-initiative, supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, it will be your job to create an enabling foundation for volunteers as well as short-term employees, and our network in general, to step in and participate in making our activities come true. Besides the administrative work, it is also the job of the daily management to push and qualify our organizations’ visions and dreams for the following years.
As part of our daily management you will receive responsibility for collaborations, grants and connections to some of Denmark’s top cultural institutions, all the while being part of an everyday work environment shaped by the colorful grassroots from which our organization has grown. We perceive ourselves to be an organization with space for thinking outside the box, being brave and doing things in new ways. In det turkise telt you will find ideal opportunities to develop your skillset as a leader and project manager in all aspects of creative cultural production – from ideation to management to hosting.
ABOUT YOU
To fill one of two seats in our daily management we are first and foremost looking for a person who identifies with the values and work of det turkise telt, and who wish to passionately dive into the core of our organization. We are looking for a leader who can take ownership of existing projects as well as initiate new ones, and a leader who wants to nurture, activate and expand the organizations’ network, tying all your efforts into the foucs of contributing positively to the long-term development of det turkise telt. You find energy and joy in event work, development work and organizational work, and would look forward to becoming part of an organization that values collaboration, companionship and new ideas. It is an advantage if you have prior experiences with leading and managing cultural events, including working with volunteers and economics, as well as an establish knowledge to the music industry, but it is not a requirement.
FORMALITIES
The position is to be considered as part time (approx. 20 hours a week). The job will include off working hours and intensifying work loads around festivals and concerts. The organization does not offer a wage qualifying to industry standards, but a monthly fee, reflection our current situation moving from grassroot organization towards establish cultural institution.
Our office is located in Aarhus at Institute for X, which is where most of the daily work will take place. Employment is scheduled to start 1st of February until 1st of October 2021, with the possibility of an extension.
